Text Version:
Hey this is Kirby Hasseman with the Monday Minute.
Let me start this week by telling you something you already know. Nothing happens in the world until someone takes action. No sale is made. No blog is written. No weight is lostā¦until someone makes a move. No one grows personally without putting in some workā¦and especially at the beginning, it takes courage to take action.
You already know that. That is why I love this quote: The greatest distance in the world is the distance between I knowā¦and I do. The majority of us know the life we want to leadā¦we are just not taking action.
In the amazing book āthe 5-second ruleā author Mel Robbins explains how to fix this. You see once we set a goal, our brain starts looking for ways to accomplish it. Thatās why goal setting can be so powerful. When we come across a chance to take action on our goal, we get an urge. But we only have 5 seconds to act on it before our brain talks us out of it. The brain wants us to be comfy and safeā¦and that is not where growth happens.
So Robbins tells us to count backward 5, 4, 3, 2, 1ā¦and then take action. The simple act can be transforming. So this week, when you get an urge to work out, send a thank you note, make a call or create a piece of content, employ the 5-second rule. Count backward from five to 1ā¦and then blast off into action.
Thanks for watching the Monday Minute!
